About the Zorig Foundation


About the program

The Zorig Foundation has been cooperating with the Swiss Agency of Development and Cooperation for over 12 years, providing scholarship programs to approximately 1050 students whom have developed and implemented about 130 social-development projects. The scholarship program receives 50 students each year through two stages. In the 2016-2017 academic year, 614 students submitted their applications forms.

Program eligibility

  • Applicant is required to be a bachelor’s student from 2nd year or above.
  • Applicants GPA average is required to be 3.2 or above
  • Participate and/or lead in various social activity among youths
  • Not be involved in any grants, benefits, or scholarship programs. (all grants, except for monthly benefit/scholarships)

Program purpose:

The aim is to encourage students who are struggling to continue their academic studies due to financial difficulties, and to encourage their active participation in society.

Program objectives

  • Acquire the skills to brainstorm and implement social-development projects
  • Increase proficiency working in teams
  • 4 courses dedicated to improving student skillset throughout the program
  • To increase social activism and participation of students
  • To provide grants to student who wish to continue their academic studies.

Program overview

Opening ceremony: Representatives from the Swiss Agency of Development and the Zorig Foundation will attend and welcome the students accepted to the program. The participating students will be provided information and contents of the program, and get acquainted with each other.

Seminar: Teams will give presentations and report on the difficulties faced during the process and implementing of their social-development process.

Lectures: Students will be taught how to write and implement the project at the beginning of the program. After the completion of the projects, teams will be able to consider the subject of what they want to study next throughout the program outside of their school curriculum.

Social-development project: Students will be divided into groups of 10 to plan and implement micro-projects that will benefit society.

Professional practice: 20 students who are highly interested in their respective majors and qualification will be given the opportunity to practice their theoretical knowledge and gain practical training with provided travel costs.

The SDC program provides scholarships to students who are second year or above in university.

  1. What academic institutions are allowed for the scholarship program?

All universities located within the capital city of Ulaanbaatar.

  1. How can I apply for the program?

Submissions of application forms for the program can only be done electrically, links to the application forms are posted on Facebook page: Zorig Foundation, and our website at: zorigsan.mn

  1. Who are eligible to the program?
  • Applicant is required to be bachelor’s university student from the 2nd year or above.
  • Applicants GPA average is required to be 3.2 or above
  • To be capable of actively participating in social activities with fellow peers
  • To not be involved in any grants, benefits, or scholarship programs. (all grants, except for monthly benefit/scholarships)
  1. What documents are necessary to apply for the program?

  1. How does the selection process work?

The selection process will be done in 2 stages, the first stage will be based on the materials and essays provided by applicants. The second stage, applicants will be selected through individual interviews.

  1. When will the results of the 2nd stage be announced?

In the case the applicant is selected in the first stage, they will be contacted individually and an interview date will be announced.

  1. Do you provide scholarships for master’s degrees?

Currently, we only provide scholarships for bachelor’s students.
