Democracy Summer Camp
Amid the challenges of increasing mistrust in democracy, the Zorig Foundation initiated the Democracy Summer Camp to educate youth about the values of democracy, the rule of law, integrity and anti-corruption, which proved to be one of the most effective ways to contribute to resolving the issues Mongolia is facing. This 14-day intensive summer course equips participants with tools for personal growth and community development.

The program is open to anyone aged 18-21, currently enrolled in a university undergraduate program, committed to full program participation, and with a keen interest in deepening their understanding of democracy, and human rights, and a desire to refine their leadership skills.
By engaging in the activities, participants gain a comprehensive understanding of Mongolia's most pressing political and social issues, developing an appreciation for the interconnected challenges that require solutions. They also acquire enhanced insight into the economic and cultural dynamics driving Mongolia's development and democratic evolution. Moreover, the program instils a heightened awareness of social responsibility, fostering a sense of duty towards their communities and the nation as a whole. Additionally, participants achieve effective leadership skills through a structured exploration of leadership qualities and principles.
The program encompasses a diverse range of activities, such as expert-led lectures, leadership and democracy workshops, immersive camp experiences, and study field trips for deeper subject understanding. Participants conclude the program with a mini research project and presentation, enabling reflection and application of their learnings. This comprehensive set of activities provides practical insights, leadership training, and a holistic learning environment, fostering personal and societal development.
To join the program, complete an online application. Successful applicants proceed to a one-on-one interview.
The selection process involves an initial review of written applications, followed by interviews with shortlisted candidates. Those who achieve the highest scores during this process will be nominated as program participants.
In the 14-day program, participants are expected to fully commit to the program, with the schedule strategically aligned with the summer break of university students. Selected participants will spend a few days at a summer camp outside of Ulaanbaatar, participating in team-building and learning activities. The remaining program days in Ulaanbaatar will include lectures, seminars, meetings with distinguished guests, and thematic study tours, all scheduled during regular working hours.
